Despite the cancellation of the Convocation for New Undergraduate Students 2024-25, one of the University’s signature events to officially welcome new students to join our HSUHK family, due to Typhoon Signal No. 8, the dedication and enthusiasm shown by our Honours Academy (HA) students truly deserve recognition. Their dedication, creativity, and leadership exemplify the values of the HA and the spirit of collaboration across cohorts.
A standout moment of the planned event was the cross-cohort ensemble featuring Ocean Ng from HA’s 3rd cohort and Abi Wong from the 4th cohort. Together, they crafted an engaging presentation that was entirely their own—drawing from their personal experiences and unique stories. Their dynamic and infotaining sharing session was designed to inspire the new students with real-life insights into the HA journey, offering a blend of humour, wisdom, and practical advice.
Meanwhile, Osman Lam from the 5th cohort, in his role as the President of the Students’ Union, took on the important task of encouraging the new cohort. His speech was meticulously crafted to motivate the students to embrace university life and the opportunities it offers, demonstrating his leadership and ability to connect with his peers.
Although the Convocation was canceled, the hard work and enthusiasm of these students have not gone to waste. We recorded their thoughtful presentations to ensure their messages of encouragement and inspiration will still reach the new students. These recordings will serve as a lasting reminder of the leadership and creativity they brought to this special occasion.
We are immensely proud of the entire HA team, whose willingness to contribute and lead was evident in every aspect of the preparation. Their cross-cohort collaboration and the originality of their presentations reflect the collaborative and innovative spirit of the Honours Academy.
