Leadership Training Camp: A Memorable Experience for HA Students
On 18 May 2025, right after the stressful exam period, HA organised an inspiring leadership training day camp for the 5th cohort and senior students at the beautiful The Salvation Army – Ma Wan Youth Camp. This experience was designed not only to provide a much-needed respite after exams but also to foster personal growth, strengthen bonds, and cultivate essential leadership skills among HA students.
The day kicked off with engaging team-building games aimed at breaking the ice and alleviating the tensions that often accompany exam season. Laughter and friendship filled the air which helped HA students relax and connect with one another, setting the perfect tone for a day of exploration and development.
In the afternoon, students took a step closer to nature with an exciting treasure hunt that showcased the stunning natural surroundings of Ma Wan. Divided into teams, students embarked on an adventure to complete four challenging missions, each requiring unique leadership qualities.
Mission One: focused on social skills, encouraging students to engage and communicate effectively, showcasing the importance of interpersonal interactions in leadership.
Mission Two: tested numerical prowess, demanding leadership that relied on analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Mission Three: required organisational skills, highlighting how effective planning and coordination are crucial in achieving common goals.
Mission Four: challenged teams to navigate their way through the camp, emphasising the importance of direction and guidance in any group setting.
Each team had a leader for their respective missions, emphasising collaboration and decision-making while allowing different students to shine in their areas of strength. The treasure hunt was not only a test of leadership but also a fun-filled adventure that let students discover their peers’ hidden talents and personalities. It was heartwarming to see the students’ different sides come to life.
By the end of the camp, HA students reflected on their experiences and takeaways from the day. They were brimming with joy and a renewed sense of connection. They had not only learned valuable lessons about teamwork and leadership but also deepened their bonds with their peers. The day was a perfect blend of relaxation, personal growth, and fun, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories.
Overall, the leadership training camp was a great success, and it showcased the importance of taking time to reflect, recharge, and grow together as a community. This camp proved to be a transformative experience, laying the foundation for future global leaders who are not only skilled but also deeply connected to their peers and the world around them.
