Leadership in Action: HA Students Play Key Roles at AALAU Presidents’ Forum
The Alliance of Asian Liberal Arts Universities (AALAU) Annual Presidents’ Forum 2024, held on 1 November 2024 at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), was a resounding success, bringing together representatives from 10 member institutions to explore the theme of “Sustainability Leadership: The Role of Liberal Arts Education”. In addition to the distinguished academic leaders and speakers, this year’s Forum was enhanced by the active participation and contributions of students from HSUHK’s Honours Academy (HA).
One of the most visually striking elements of the Forum was the eye-catching, innovatively designed backdrops, created by Yoyo Chung, a student of HA’s 3rd cohort. Yoyo’s backdrop designs added a dynamic visual layer to the event, seamlessly blending aesthetic appeal with the Forum’s core theme of sustainability.
Another highlight of the event was the involvement of Kin Fung, HA’s 5th cohort, who took on the important role of the Master of Ceremonies. Kin Fung expertly guided the audience through the Opening Ceremony and the morning discussions, ensuring a smooth and engaging flow to the day’s proceedings. His professionalism and poise exemplified the leadership qualities nurtured at HA, and his contribution was widely acknowledged by attendees.
In the afternoon session, Honours Academy students were invited to participate in the panel discussions. Their involvement not only enriched the conversations but also provided a unique student perspective on the pressing issues of sustainability and leadership in liberal arts education. The HA students’ participation in such a landmark event underscores HA’s success in developing students who can contribute meaningfully to high-level academic discourse and global initiatives.
