A Giving Heart in Action: HA Eco Ambassadors Train to Bring Eco-Learning to Young Children

On 7 March 2026, HA students took their first step into a year of meaningful community service. Together with Dr Holly Chung, Head of HA, our inaugural team of HA Eco Ambassadors completed the first Train the Trainer session at BGCA’s Community Ecological Education Centre in Sha Tin. The programme is delivered with The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA) and funded by the Environmental and Conservation Fund (ECF), bringing long-term, hands-on environmental learning to local children and families.

The training was conducted by Dr Michelle Cheung, Director of the Sea Education Association, who guided students in turning ecological knowledge into engaging, child-friendly activities.

Learning biodiversity where we live

A highlight of the session was exploring the biodiversity in our Sha Tin neighbourhood, a powerful reminder that environmental care starts close to home. By understanding the nature around us, our Eco Ambassadors are better prepared to help younger children notice, appreciate, and protect the living world in their own community.

From training to long-term impact

This initiative is designed for sustained engagement—not a one-off event. After the training, HA Eco Ambassadors will lead a number of biodiversity tours and interactive workshops throughout 2026, engaging K3 to junior primary students through fun, interactive eco-learning.

During the training session, our HA future leaders also experienced the potential workshop contents and contributed insights to bettering young learners’ experience, including making tofu desserts, seaweed snacks and marine-life artwork. These simple, creative activities help children learn by doing, planting early seeds of curiosity, care, and everyday sustainability.

A partnership that turns care into action

With BGCA’s deep community roots and ECF’s support, HA students are stepping into a role that truly matters: showing up consistently, leading with a giving heart, and creating real impact for Sha Tin families, one workshop at a time.
