Honours in Action: Charis Kong (HA 5th Cohort) MCs a Day of Legacy and Celebration
On 3 June 2025, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) hosted its Fifth Honorary Doctorate Conferment Ceremony, celebrating four esteemed individuals for their exceptional contributions to society, their professions, and the University.
This year, the degree of Doctor of Social Science, honoris causa was conferred upon:
Professor Fanny Cheung Mui-ching (張妙清) – A pioneering scholar in psychology
Dr Roy Chung Chi-ping (鍾志平) – A visionary industrialist and community leader
Mr Michael Hui Koon-man (許冠文) – A legendary performer and cultural icon
Professor Zhang Weiying (張維迎) – A globally respected economist and thought leader
Among the many faces who made the day special, one stood out not only for her presence on stage, but for the calm, confident voice that helped carry the celebration forward. That voice belonged to Ms Charis Kong, our Honours Academy (HA) 5th Cohort student, who served as Master of Ceremony for both the Conferment Ceremony in the afternoon and the Gala Dinner in the evening.
Taking on a dual role in two very different settings — one formal and ceremonial, the other festive and social — Charis brought a mix of composure, clarity, and warmth to the day. Whether introducing distinguished guests, guiding the programme flow, or connecting the audience to the spirit of the event, she did so with a natural grace that reflects both her character and training.
Her performance is a true reflection of what the HA stands for — developing student leaders who are not only academically strong, but also articulate, adaptable, and attuned to the world around them.
We are incredibly proud of Charis for representing HA and HSUHK with such professionalism. Her contribution to this milestone event reminds us that leadership is not just about titles — it’s also about presence, service, and stepping up when it matters.
