HA Orientation Welcomes the Sixth Cohort with Heart and Purpose
The Honours Academy (HA) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) welcomed its Sixth Cohort at this year’s Orientation Workshop on 4 September 2025. The event marked the beginning of a meaningful journey for 25 outstanding students, joining a close-knit family united by shared values and a common purpose.
The morning began with a warm welcome from Dr Holly Chung, Head of HA, who introduced the HA team and invited Professor Jeanne Fu, Vice-President (Learning and Student Experience), Board Member and Founding Head of HA, to share her reflections.
Professor Fu spoke of two distinguished graduates from the First Cohort. Each had taken a very different path through HA, while both graduated with flying colours and are now pursuing their dream jobs. Her message to the new cohort was clear: define your own leadership path, stay true to your purpose, and success will follow.
Following Professor Fu’s address, Dr Chung introduced the HA’s signature experiential learning approach. Dr Bernard Luk, Associate Head of HA, then provided an overview of the HA curriculum. He introduced core modules such as HA2001: Self-Awareness and Interpersonal Skills and HA2002: Service Leadership and Public Policy, highlighting how academic learning is deeply integrated with leadership development and personal growth.
To close the session, the key members of HA’s Secretariat Team, Ms Joanne Chow and Ms Candy Yeung, introduced key HA student life elements. These included the HA Inauguration Ceremony, student sub-teams, and the HA Common Room. Everything combined fosters a culture of professionalism, mutual respect, and shared responsibility.
Together, the sessions reminded students of HA’s mission: to groom future leaders with global vision and a big heart ready to contribute to the HA family, HSUHK, and the wider community.
Welcome to the HA family! We are proud to walk this journey with you!
