Zoe Poon from HA 3rd Cohort Shares Her HSUHK Journey at the President’s Reception for Parents 2024-25

On 26 October 2024, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) hosted the President’s Reception for Parents 2024-25, an event designed to foster communication between students, parents, and university leaders. One of the highlights was a student sharing by Zoe Poon, a member of the Honours Academy (HA) 3rd Cohort, whose experiences exemplify the opportunities and holistic education offered at both HA and HSUHK.

In her speech, Zoe shared insights into her diverse roles as an HA student, including organising a student-led seminar on her internship in Mainland China, coordinating the HA booth at New Student Welcome Day, and playing a key role in HA’s Pre-Teens Financial Literacy Workshop. She also led a Mental Health Workshop for Residential College (RC) residents. Through these initiatives, Zoe demonstrated not only leadership and community service but also the comprehensive development that HA students undergo.

What struck us most about Zoe’s sharing was how it beautifully encapsulated the spirit of HA. Through every initiative, she demonstrated the qualities we aim to cultivate: leadership, community service, and a dedication to lifelong learning. Her journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs, resonated deeply with the parents in attendance, offering them a real glimpse into the kind of meaningful, holistic education their children can experience at HSUHK.

Zoe’s story is a living example of how HA supports student growth—not just academically or professionally, but as compassionate and active members of society. Her passion and perseverance reflect HA’s mission to develop future leaders who are capable of making a lasting impact on the world around them. Through her words and actions, Zoe illuminated the core values of HSUHK’s “Liberal + Professional” education model, making us all proud of the bright future she and her fellow HA students are building.
