In the spirit of community contribution and shared joy, the Honours Academy (HA) of Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) partnered with the Scout Association of Hong Kong, North Kwai Chung District Headquarters to host the public event “Sports for Future” on 27 July 2024 (Saturday). Coinciding with the Paris Olympics, this event aimed to educate the public about Olympic spirit and multiculturalism through various game booths, allowing participants to experience and appreciate different sports techniques. Additionally, the event featured Hong Kong elite athletes and representatives from charitable organisations who shared inspiring stories of how sports have transformed lives. Attendees also had the opportunity to watch live broadcasts of Hong Kong team’s exciting Olympic matches, cheering them to victory.

On the day of the event, Ms Antonia Yeung, Associate Vice-President (Development and Campus Services) of HSUHK, and Mr Nigel Yip, Acting District Commissioner, North Kwai Chung District, Scout Association of Hong Kong, delivered speeches highlighting the significance of sports in promoting social integration and enhancing personal qualities. President Simon Ho of HSUHK, during his overseas business trip, also addressed the attendees via an online video call, extending a warm welcome to the public and encouraging active participation. The event drew nearly 150 enthusiastic participants, including members of disadvantaged communities, individuals with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and Scouts members.
