Step into the Spotlight – A Journey of Growth, Courage, and Creative Leadership in Arts@HSUHK “Play Reading X Multimedia”

At the Honours Academy (HA), we believe that leadership is with no limits, but expressed through courage, creativity, and the willingness to explore new frontiers. This spirit was powerfully embodied by our Elvin Fang (HA 5th Cohort) and Arti Liu (HA 4th Cohort), who participated as actors in the Arts@HSUHK “Play Reading X Multimedia” event, held on 2 April 2025.

The performance reimagined the classic musical Man of La Mancha through a multimedia, bilingual play-reading format, directed by renowned theatre professional Mr Hardy Tsoi. While the stage may have been new territory for both Elvin and Arti, they embraced the challenge with the poise and determination of true emerging leaders.

Their involvement went far beyond the performance itself. Over the course of many weeks, they committed themselves to intensive rehearsals, script analysis, and vocal training, all while balancing their academic responsibilities. Their multilingual talents—a hallmark of globally minded individuals—allowed them to navigate the complexity of a script that blends cultures, languages, and historical perspectives.

We’re also proud to share that Jessica Wong (HA 4th Cohort) served as the MC for the event, bringing her charisma and professionalism to the stage.

Elvin, Arti, and Jessica’s contributions highlight a core tenet of the HA experience: the value of transformative, cross-disciplinary exposure. Whether on stage or in the community, HA students are encouraged to lead in their own unique ways, taking bold steps into unfamiliar arenas and inspiring others by example.
