Time: 2:00 – 5:00 PM
Location: The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong Campus
Target Audience: Secondary School Students
On 28 March 2026 (Saturday), the Honours Academy (HA) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong co‑organised an engaging campus workshop, “The Path to Financial Literacy for Teenagers: Invest in Yourself, Steer Clear of Gambling” , in collaboration with The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA). The event welcomed secondary school students from across Hong Kong to HSUHK campus for an interactive learning experience focused on financial literacy, responsible decision‑making, and anti‑gambling awareness.
The three‑hour workshop was led by Dr Bernard Luk, Associate Head of the Honours Academy and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management, School of Business. Through interactive games, lively discussions, and relatable real‑life examples, Dr Luk guided students to recognise the psychological traps of gambling, critically analyse gambling promotions, and build foundational financial management skills. The session fostered open dialogue between participants and HA teachers and students, embodying HA’s commitment to community engagement by translating university knowledge into practical tools for young people at a critical stage of growth.
This initiative also aligned with the Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC)’s Hong Kong Money Month 2026 (theme: Invest in Yourself for Greater Rewards) and Global Money Week 2026 (theme: “Smart money talks”), reinforcing the importance of empowering young people to make informed financial choices and to invest in themselves for long‑term well‑being.
HA extends sincere gratitude to BGCA for facilitating participant registration and partnership, and to all students for bringing their enthusiasm and thoughtful engagement to campus. The Academy looks forward to continuing to develop meaningful programmes that empower young people with confidence, financial awareness, and life‑long skills.
