Honours Academy Dedicated to Making a Positive Impact in the Community – Join Our Workshop on “The Path to Financial Literacy for Teenagers: Invest in Yourself, Steer Clear of Gambling”

Co-organised by Honours Academy of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, this interactive workshop invites secondary school students to engage with teachers and students from the Honours Academy as they delve into the risks and psychological traps associated with gambling. Participants will learn to critically analyse gambling promotions, make informed choices, and acquire basic financial management skills to enhance their financial decision-making. Learning financial literacy is essential for children’s growth, and developing good financial habits can help them achieve their goals.

This initiative supports the Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC)’s Hong Kong Money Month 2026 and Global Money Week 2026.

The Hong Kong Money Month (HKMM), an annual territory-wide campaign led by the IFEC, aims at increasing the public’s awareness of the benefits of financial education. The theme for HKMM 2026 is set as 投資自己 回報最高 Invest in Yourself for Greater Rewards. This campaign is supported by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, the Education Bureau, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Insurance Authority, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and the Securities and Futures Commission and many other stakeholders. Global Money Week (GMW) is an annual campaign launched by the OECD/INFE to promote financial literacy among children and young people. The theme for GMW 2026 is “Smart money talks”.
