Innovative Inheritance is not only the yearly theme of our Honours Academy but also the perfect depiction of this Honours Academy (HA) seminar: Visiting the future-banking-oriented Hang Seng Central Branch, bringing industrial insights into focus for our HA students.
As the fifth wave of the pandemic slowly came to an end, not only were our HA students finally able to meet up but also they gathered for a long-awaited HA seminar: a visit to the Hang Seng Bank Central Branch. With the kind invitation extended from the Hang Seng Bank, 21 Honours Academy students from the first and second cohort, were warmly welcomed by one of our HA’s Board members and Professional Fellows, Ms Wendy Yuen, Head of Retail Distribution of Hang Seng Bank, and her colleagues, to the newly-opened, state-of-the-art Hang Seng Branch on the Queen’s Road, Central. It was such a privilege for our HA students to be visiting a flagship branch after their office hours, and meeting a league of key personnel engineering the era of future banking.
Paying a visit to the two-storey bank branch that stands in the heart of Hong Kong’s financial centre, the future leaders at the HA were tremendously inspired and impressed by the Bank’s customer-oriented commitment. Introduced with the concept of Banking 4.0, our HA students had first-hand experience of how digital banking can be fully embodied in both the on-site and online specialist banking services. Mr Derek Chow, Head of Branch Innovative and Technology, shared with our HA students the Hang Seng Bank’s transformative journey, from traditional banking to the current digital embracement with a personal touch.
On top of the demonstration of the newest authentication method, mobile cash withdrawal and mobile cheque deposit in the Hang Seng e-banking mobile app, our HA students were also amazed the moment they stepped into this innovatively-designed branch: a welcoming ambiance where customers can interact with a wide range of their bank staff face to face, without the “behind the counters” aloofness in the old days. The “go green” effort of the Hang Seng Bank was another highlight where our HA students came to witness the paperless environment, appreciating the Bank’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) endeavours.
Our HA students also asked thought-provoking questions regarding cross-boundary wealth management, online banking security, and senior citizens’ banking needs in this 21st century. This HA seminar hit the final note with Dr Tom Fong, Vice-President (Organisational Development) and also one of the HA Co-Chairs expressing our gratitude to Ms Yuen and her teams, together with our HA students interacting with the Hang Seng Bank management.

袁主管向學院師生分享了新分行的設立理念。她表示，分行地點位於中環核心商業區的心臟地帶，不僅能更全面覆蓋中區客戶的理財需要，其全新形象及服務更能迎合客戶對跨境財富管理和數碼理財的需求。
是次分享會主題為「恒生銀行未來分行轉『型』之旅」，由恒生銀行分行網絡創新及科技部主管周志豪先生主講。周主管從銀行分行的變革與創新切入，詳述如何透過將數碼科技融入分行的人性化服務的同時，亦於現場展示恒生銀行創新的認證方法，更介紹全新專隊「數碼特使」，並展望銀行達致無紙化及「碳中和」的未來。
