Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp (12 September 2021, Sunday)

With the beginning of the new academic year, Honours Academy (HA) welcomes our 16 newly-admitted members of the 2nd cohort. On the 11th and 12th September, the annual leadership training camp was held for the members from both 1st and 2nd cohort. With experienced trainers from Training Master International Ltd, the 2-day Leadership Training Camps were conducted on the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong campus (11st Sept, Saturday) and in the Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp (12 Sept, Sunday).

On Day 1 of the training camp, through some simple yet engrossing ice-breaking activities, members of the two cohorts quickly built up their friendships with one another. After a morning of invigorating team-bonding exercises,  our two HA Co-Chairmen, Prof YV Hui (Provost and Vice-President, Academic and Research) and Dr Tom Fong (Vice-President, Organisational Development), joined our HA family for lunch, listening to them about their thoughts on their morning adventure.

Later in the afternoon, members took part in the activity – One Symbol One Message, where members were blindfolded and given some puzzle pieces. With their sights being taken away, members must communicate with each other and figure out the total number of shapes given to their team. Through many trials and errors, the HA members completed the domino challenge by building a domino of the name and logo of the Honours Academy together.

The second day of the leadership training camp took place in Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp. Surrounded by the beautiful nature of Sai Kung, HA members started their day with an ecology tour, where they took a leisure midday stroll in the countryside. After bathing themselves in the comfort of mother nature, members were asked to share their views with each other under the lead of a professional ecologist. In the afternoon, under the guidance of the trainers, HA members learnt more about the 18 Sustainable Development Goals. Through a series of games and activities that allowed members to experience the process of city planning, members accomplished the goals of the game by building their ideal city.

The HA Leadership Training Camps 2021 not only strengthened the bonds among the first and the second cohorts, creating a more harmonious and sharpened idea of the HA family, but also enlightened our members on the importance of being a global citizen and an inspirational leader.
